Sarah Thurman & Donna Thurman
Sarah graduated in May 2006
with an Associates Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts
from Johnson & Wales University. In the course study
she learned the art of fondant as well as completing
many courses in hand making gumpaste flowers.
Working in Charlotte for two years at Hansel &
Gretel’s Bakery she mastered decorating skills.
Making hundreds of cakes per year, decorating cakes
has become second nature.
Her
business partner and mother Donna Thurman has been
making specialty cakes for over 20 years as a hobby
and a second career. Being in the wedding
industry she has directed numerous weddings and
provided catering at many events. With the combined
knowledge of the wedding industry and new innovative
techniques of modern cake decorating, there is no
question that Special Occasion Cakes is the place to
order the wedding cake of your dreams!
Demand
for our fresh-baked wedding cakes, along with our
high standards limits the number of cakes we are
able to make each year.
In order to ensure
availability we strongly recommend you place your
order three months to a year in advance, depending
on the season you will be getting married.
(Dates between May and September usually book the
quickest.)
Hours of Operation
Tuesday – Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Saturdays – 9:00am to 2:00pm
